What is The Best Way to Start Your Day?
Hello OnLine Friends,
While describing the best way to start your day, this is not another reminder about getting your day started with a healthy breakfast.
The very best start begins sometime before whatever time you choose to begin your day. There is generally no chance of even an acceptable start to any day without a good night’s sleep first.
What next after a good night’s sleep?
First, replace the water you have lost overnight, by drinking one or two glasses of fresh water. (I use local spring water).
The health benefits of drinking water first thing in the morning are too numerous to mention – and too well established to need further explanation.
Next it is time to perform those actions which are usually so habitual that they need little or no thought – shower, brush teeth etc., these tasks which need o thought are really helpful, as it can allow you to begin thinking about what you intend to achieve today.
Now For The ‘Hour of Power’
Since discovering the immense value of this ‘hour of power’, my mornings have become so enjoyable and productive, I love to pass on the idea to anyone who shows an interest.
It really can make any morning the best way to start your day.
The exact structure of this hour can be very personal to you, but what works for me is three periods of twenty minutes each – I like to refer to it as the 3 Es – Exercise, Education and Enlightenment.
First E – 20 minutes of an appropriate exercise; my preference is for high intensity interval training one day, then a gentle run the next.
Second E – 20 minutes reading some new material, usually something business or personal growth related.
Third E – which is probably the most controversial – 20 minutes of silent reflection, meditation or perhaps prayer.
Following a routine or ritual such as this does not produce immediate changes in results. When it is practised consistently, the cumulative effects seem to creep up on you, in the form of increased positive mood and productivity.
I would love to know what you think about the best way to start your day; do you have any better ideas?
