How Does A Tomato Help With OnLine Business Success
Well people, can this be true – can a tomato really help with online business success? Well, the answer is yes, if that tomato is made of plastic and contains a timing device. Let me explain.
One problem which many novice entrepreneurs describe, is difficulty with time management. What this usually means is having problems allocating enough time to tasks, in order of their priority. This can be particularly difficult for someone in the early days of starting up online, when there is so much new information to absorb and use.
Enter the Pomodoro Technique
This is an idea developed in the late nineteen eighties, to break down tasks into intervals of 25 minutes or so, taking a break at the end of each interval. The name Pomodoro is the Italian word for a tomato; this is the shape of the kitchen timer device, which was used by the man who developed the technique.
This is a simple and elegant low-tech solution, to a universal problem. All you need is your timing device, a piece of paper and a pencil.
Start by deciding what task to complete, set the timer and begin. Work until the timer rings. Should a thought distract you, simply note it down and immediately get back on task. At the sound of the timer, take a three to five minute break and make a check mark on your paper.
Once there are four check-marks, or the task is complete, take a longer break – fifteen to thirty minutes.
The value of the method, is that frequent breaks improve your mental abilities. In fact, with time and repetition, the mechanical aspects take on great psychological significance.
Setting the timer becomes an effective positive trigger mechanism, while the check-marks and notes allow you to monitor and record progress.
As you think and plan your task lists, they seem to begin to complete themselves – the power of your mind will probably greatly surprise you.
A simple yet powerful technique, to allow you to put your time to better use. Managing tasks in the right order will put you well and truly in charge your business development.
Why not try it yourself and see just how a humble tomato can help with online business success.
